MARCO ANGIUS achieved his first success in 2000 with the premiere of Studi per l’intonazione del mare by Salvatore Sciarrino, for 100 flautists, 100 saxophonists and soloists. He has conducted the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della Rai in Torino (Rai Nuova Musica), Symphony Orchestra of Lecce, Orchestra Sinfonica Giuseppe Verdi of Milan, Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, and appeared at the Muziekgebouw/Bimhuis Amsterdam, Philharmonie du Luxembourg and deSingel in Antwerp (Hermes Ensemble), at the Venice Biennale, Warsaw Autumn, Mulhouse La Filature, Teatro Lirico in Cagliari, Romaeuropa Festival, Parma Traiettorie, Accademia Filarmonica Romana, Teatro Lirico Belli in Spoleto.
He founded the Ensemble Algoritmo, and was awarded the “Amadeus 2007” for the Recording of the Year (Mixtim by Ivan Fedele, Stradivarius). Since 2008 he has conducted the final concerts of the composition studies at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. He is author of a monograph on Salvatore Sciarrino’s work: Come avvicinare il silenzio (Rai Eri, 2007).
