Andy Evans has always loved classical music, playing the clarinet and then the horn. He began composing in 1999 following the death of his father. He began by writing works for orchestras, bands and chamber groups in Nottingham where he lived until 2009. His suite for thirteen winds was published in 2008. He was recently a prize-winner in the Compose Competition organised by the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and the National Gallery of Scotland. Andy Evans’ music is accessible and tonal with influences of modern jazz. He is professor of Breast Imaging at Dundee University.
