Christoph Keller was born in Glarus, Switzerland in 1950. He completed studies in piano with Sava Savoff at the Zurich Conservatory and in conducting with Francis Travis at the Music Academy in Freiburg im Breisgau. Since 1970 he has appeared as a soloist and ensemble musician in numerous countries and made diverse television and radio recordings.
Amongst his numerous CD recordings are the complete recordings of the piano and chamber oeuvres of Hanns Eisler and Albéric Magnard. In addition, he has been active as musical director of theatrical productions, e.g. at the Zurich Schauspielhaus in Christoph Marthaler’s staging of Die schöne Müllerin and at the Volksbühne in Berlin in Die Meistersinger produced by Frank Castorf.
Alongside his artistic activities, Christoph Keller is also active in journalism. From 1984 until 2000 he was editor-in-chief of the music magazine Dissonanz/Dissonance. From 1986 until 2010 he was active as a music producer at the Swiss Radio DRS. He has been the pianist of the Collegium Novum Zürich since 1997 and was also its interim artistic director during the 2004/2005 season.
