Martin Mumelter, born in Innsbruck, studied violin in Innsbruck and Philadelphia. Since early youth he has performed in concerts internationally, with a particular interest in twentieth-century music.
With his ensemble Concertodrom, Mumelter performed for years in programs that mixed improvisation and compositions in a wide range of styles and as early in the 1970s worked to overcome, with great success, audiences' fear of the unknown in classical and New Music.
In addition to numerous LP and CD recordings with twentieth-century music Mumelter has also published articles in anthologies and journals as well as radio plays and prose texts. Since 1985 he is full professor at the Mozarteum in Salzburg.
