Peter Sadlo has been hailed by the press as a talent of the century. From the moment he won the First Prize at the renowned International Music Competition of the ARD in 1985, he belonged without doubt to the stars of the percussive art. After taking the position of Solo Timpanist with the Munich Philharmonic under Sergiu Celibidache, Peter Sadlo taught at the Conservatory of Music in Munich from 1983 onwards.
At the age of 28 he became a Full Professor at the Mozarteum University of Salzburg. In 1997 he was awarded a Doctorate in Musicology from the University of Bucharest. In 1998 Peter Sadlo was awarded as Instrumentalist of the Year the “Echo Classic” Prize by the German Association of the Recording Industry; in 2003 the State Music Academy of Sofia awarded him an Honorary Doctorate for special services in the field of percussion. In 2005 he was awarded in Amsterdam the European Culture Prize from the Foundation Pro Europa; in 2006 there followed the Culture Prize of E.ON Bayern AG.
Peter Sadlo is Artistic Director of the festival “les muséiques” in Basel as well as Artistic Advisor to the International Music Retreat “Haus Marteau”. He has concertized both as a soloist and chamber musician at the world’s most renowned venues and festivals.
