Marga Scheurich-Henschel was born in Schneeberg in Lower Franconia and studied at the Stuttgart Conservatory, winning prizes at various competitions. After completing her studies she played harpsichord and piano in the Stuttgart Chamber Music Ensemble, Southwest German Radio and the Karl Münchinger Chamber Orchestra.
Her LP and CD recordings have brought her international acclaim. Her interests have always centred on the music of J. S. Bach, which she has recorded on many CDs, including The Well-Tempered Clavier (Books 1 and 2), The Goldberg Variations and Famous Harpsichord Works by J. S. Bach. Marga Henschel has also maintained close contacts with her fellow musicians in the Henschel Quartet.
She concertises with Florian Prey (voice) and Klaus Kämper (Baroque cello) in the Florian Prey Baroque Ensemble, whose members are united by their passion for the still unexplored riches and beauties of baroque music.
