Kasper de Roo studied Conducting and Bassoon at the Royal Conservatory in his home town The Hague and at the Sweelinck Conservatory Amsterdam. His debut as a conductor came about through Dennis Russel Davies, who invited him to the 1979 Cabrillo Music Festival. The following year he was a prize winner at the International Competition for Young Conductors in Besançon. Between 1984–92 he was “Kapellmeister” at the State Opera Stuttgart, and between 1992–97 Music Director of the City of Innsbruck as well as Head of Opera at the Tirol State Theatre. Between 1994–98 he was Chief Conductor of the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland. Kasper de Roo works with numerous renowned orchestras and ensembles. He has made a name for himself as a conductor of contemporary music and appears regularly at Europe’s most important festivals.
