Biography:
The Bugallo-Williams Piano Duo was founded in 1995 by Helena Bugallo (born in 1971 in Mar del Plata, Argentina) and Amy Williams (born in 1969 in Buffalo, USA). It performs at international festivals, including the Numus Festival (Aarhus), Ojai Music Festival (California), Wittener Tage für neue Kammermusik, and Unerhörte Musik (Berlin). The duo's repertoire includes 20th-century works by American and European composers such as John Cage, Morton Feldman, Stefan Wolpe, Igor Stravinsky, György Kurtág, György Ligeti, Mauricio Kagel, and Salvatore Sciarrino. The duo works with numerous composers, including Steve Reich, Lukas Foss, Klas Torstensson, Jukka Tiensuu, Erik Oña and Kevin Volans. It has premiered numerous works, some of which were written especially for the duo. In 2000–01, they received a scholarship at the Stuttgart Academy Schloss Solitude.
