The two musicians, jazz artists, composers, and genuine improvisers Uli Johannes Kieckbusch and Günter Baby Sommer have already released their highly acclaimed duo CD “Schwebende Riefen, bebende Tiefen” (2017) and then the production “Quiétude Fragile” (2021), released by NEOS, with the Baby Sommer Kiecktett, the latter expanded to a quartet with flutes and a viola. Now, just in time for Günter Baby Sommer's 80th birthday, they return to their roots as a duo (piano and drums), immediate and authentic in their seemingly infinite creativity. The compositions are mainly by Uli Johannes Kieckbusch. The exceptions are “Pěndulo” and “Still ruht der See,” which Kieckbusch and Sommer composed together.

Biographies

Günter Baby Sommer is one of the most important representatives of contemporary European jazz, who has developed an unmistakable musical language with a highly individualized percussion instrumentation.

Uli Johannes Kieckbusch, composer and pianist, grew up with classical music, with the music of Johannes Brahms, to whom he is related, always holding a special place in his family. However, Kieckbusch discovered the blues for himself at an early age and gradually expanded his repertoire.
