Andrés Hernández Alba, Wolfgang Sehringer, Christian Wernicke, Tillmann Reinbeck
Biography:
‘...but anyone who puts their ear to its surface will soon hear its busy roar.’ (Jorge Luis Borges, from El Aleph)
The four musicians of the Aleph Guitar Quartet are passionate advocates of contemporary music. Since the quartet was founded in 1994, they have been working intensively with composers, sound engineers and acousticians to advance the musical language and playing techniques of the 20th and 21st centuries. This has resulted in an extensive, new and forward-looking repertoire for classical guitar. This repertoire is constantly being expanded by a number of renowned and young composers.
Andrés Hernández Alba, Tillmann Reinbeck, Wolfgang Sehringer and Christian Wernicke regularly perform at international music festivals such as: MaerzMusik (Berlin), Guitar Foundation of America (USA), Eclat (Stuttgart), Steirischer Herbst (Graz), Warsaw Autumn, Archipel (Geneva), MusicadHoy (Madrid), Pan Music (Seoul), Klangspuren Schwaz and Time of Music (Viitasaari).
The quartet is supported by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation, the Goethe-Institut, the Spanish Ministry of Culture, the State of Baden-Württemberg and the ZKM | Institute for Music and Acoustics.
