Violin
Biography:
Since childhood, violinist Bettina Boller has distinguished herself as an idiosyncratic and expressive musical personality. She completed her training with Ulrich Lehmann in Bern (soloist diploma with distinction). She continued her studies with Itzhak Perlman and Masao Kawasaki in New York.
Bettina Boller has made a name for herself with her commitment to 20th-century music and has brought numerous Swiss works to international attention. Together with director Adrian Marthaler, she has realised five music visualisations, some of which have won awards, including Bach and Mozart concerts with her own cadenzas and Ravel's Tzigane.
Together with her duo partner Walter Prossnitz, she mainly performs works by composers outside the standard repertoire (Reger, Hindemith, Schoeck, Lekeu, Furtwängler, etc.). She has a particular interest in contemporary music: Bettina Boller is a member of the Collegium Novum Zurich and, in 2003, founded the Absolut Trio with pianist Stefka Perifanova and cellist Imke Frank, which commissions themed compositions every year and performs internationally.
Bettina Boller is also passionate about bringing music to children. She has conceived and realised several projects with orchestras, most recently Peer Gynt for children aged six and above.
