Biography:

Claudia Barainsky is internationally regarded as one of the most versatile artists in her field. She studied singing at the Berlin University of the Arts with Ingrid Figur, Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau and Aribert Reimann. In 1994, she made her debut at the Saxon State Opera in Dresden, followed by an international career: she has performed at opera houses in Amsterdam, Avignon, Brussels, Dresden, Hamburg, Leipzig, Cologne, Munich, Stuttgart and Tokyo, and has appeared at international festivals including the Bayreuth and Salzburg Festivals, the Lincoln Centre Festival and the Ruhrtriennale.

Her wide-ranging repertoire encompasses works from all eras of musical theatre. Concert arias, soprano parts from major oratorios and great orchestral songs feature in her programme, as do unusual works written especially for her by composers. She performs with the world's leading orchestras and conductors.
