Biography:

The Düsseldorfer Symphoniker is one of Germany's largest and most renowned ensembles and has earned an outstanding reputation as the concert orchestra of the state capital Düsseldorf and the orchestra of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein. It is the resident orchestra of the Tonhalle, making it the heart, driving force and artistic nucleus of one of Germany's most important concert halls. Since 1945, the orchestra's general music directors have included such renowned conductors as Heinrich Hollreiser, Eugen Szenkar, Jean Martinon, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, Bernhard Klee, David Shallon, Salvador Mas Conde and John Fiore. Since the 2009/10 season, Russian-born conductor Andrey Boreyko has been General Music Director of the Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra. With concert tours to Holland, Austria, Czechia, Switzerland, Spain, China and Japan, the orchestra carries Düsseldorf's reputation as a city of culture throughout the world.
