Biography:

MARCO ANGIUS achieved his first success in 2000 with the world premiere of Studi per l’intonazione del mare for 100 flutes, 100 saxophones and soloists by Salvatore Sciarrino. He has conducted major orchestras (including the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della Rai in Turin (Rai Nuova Musica), Orchestra Sinfonica Giuseppe Verdi in Milan, Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, Orchestra Sinfonica in Lecce), in important concert halls and at numerous festivals: Muziekgebouw/Bimhuis in Amsterdam, the Philharmonie du Luxembourg and deSingel in Antwerp (Hermes Ensemble), Biennale Musica in Venice, Warsaw Autumn, La Filature in Mulhouse, Teatro Lirico in Cagliari, Romaeuropa Festival, Traiettorie in Parma, Accademia Filarmonica Romana, Teatro Lirico Belli in Spoleto.

He is the founder of the Ensemble Algoritmo, which won him the Amadeus 2007 record award for recording of the year (Mixtim by Ivan Fedele). Since 2008, he has been conducting the final concerts of the composition courses at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. Marco Angius is the author of a monograph on the work of Salvatore Sciarrino (Come avvicinare il silenzio, Rai Eri, 2007).
