As a composer who performs and a performer who composes, I am familiar with the interface between these two areas of musical creation. Although the two tasks are closely linked, because only through them is a tonal result possible, their functions are very different. The only thing that is clear is that both are interdependent. Only the ideal interaction of both parts of the musical creation process can lead to a satisfactory result. As a composer, I depend on the works being performed to the highest standard. Only then can I recognize the potential of my work, which in turn forms the basis for further development."
Matthias Mueller da Minusio
On his latest CD, Matthias Mueller da Minusio presents various works for solo or duo instruments, composed between 2003 and 2023. Some of the compositions were recorded by various internationally renowned performers in close collaboration with Matthias Mueller, while others are performed by him himself, such as the title duet “Enigma” for clarinet and guitar and the solo work “Tournesol” for piano.
