Biography:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alexander Glasunow<\/strong> entstammte einer wohlhabenden Familie und begann schon sehr fr\u00fch, sich mit Musik zu besch\u00e4ftigen. Hierbei fielen vor allem sein erstaunliches musikalisches Ged\u00e4chtnis und sein ausgezeichnetes Geh\u00f6r auf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1880 begann Glasunow auf Empfehlung von Mili Balakirew ein privates Studium bei Nikolai Rimski-Korsakow, der sich von dem gewaltigen Talent seines Sch\u00fclers beeindruckt zeigte. Die Urauff\u00fchrung von Glasunows Sinfonie Nr. 1 1882 bedeutete f\u00fcr den jungen Komponisten den Durchbruch. Auch wurde er mit dem M\u00e4zen Mitrofan Beljajew bekannt, der ihn in den folgenden Jahren besonders stark f\u00f6rderte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nachdem Glasunow in den 1890er Jahren zu einer international anerkannten Pers\u00f6nlichkeit avanciert war, nahm er 1899 eine Professur f\u00fcr Instrumentation am Petersburger Konservatorium an. 1905 \u00fcbernahm er die Leitung dieses Institutes, die er bis 1930 innehatte. W\u00e4hrend dieser Zeit nahm seine kompositorische Produktivit\u00e4t, bedingt durch den gro\u00dfen zeitlichen Aufwand und sein einzigartiges Engagement f\u00fcr die Belange dieser Einrichtung, deutlich ab. Er entdeckte viele gro\u00dfe Talente und setzte sich unerm\u00fcdlich f\u00fcr die Studenten ein.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1928 reiste Glasunow nach Wien, wo er als Jurymitglied bei einem Schubertwettbewerb mitwirkte. Seine angegriffene Gesundheit erlaubte ihm die R\u00fcckkehr nicht, sodass er sich in Paris niederlie\u00df. Hier blieb er bis zu seinem Tode.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
