Biography:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

THOMAS GROSSENBACHER<\/strong> wurde in Z\u00fcrich geboren. Er ist Erster Solocellist im Tonhalle-Orchester Z\u00fcrich und Dozent an der Hochschule f\u00fcr Musik und Theater Z\u00fcrich. Nach erstem Cellounterricht bei Tatjana Valleise und Mischa Frey absolvierte er am Konservatorium Z\u00fcrich bei Claude Starck das Lehrdiplom. An der Musikhochschule L\u00fcbeck, Klasse David Geringas, schloss er das Studium mit dem Konzertexamen, Pr\u00e4dikat \u00bbMit Auszeichnung\u00ab, ab. Wichtige k\u00fcnstlerische Impulse erhielt er au\u00dferdem durch Menahem Pressler, Robert Mann, Gy\u00f6rgy Ligeti und Alfred Schnittke. Thomas Grossenbacher konzertiert in Europa, USA und Japan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Er ist Mitglied des \u00bbTrio Caleidoscopio\u00ab mit Keiko Tamura und Primoz Novsak. Wiederholt nahm er an verschiedenen Festivals wie in Ernen, Davos, Aspen (Colorado), Ittingen und Gstaad teil. Mit Dirigenten wie David Zinman, Armin Jordan, Paavo Berglund trat er ebenso erfolgreich solistisch auf wie als Kammermusikpartner von Leon Fleisher, H\u00e9l\u00e8ne Grimaud, Joshua Bell, Kyoko Takezawa, dem <\/a>Carmina Quartett\u00a0und dem American String Quartet. Die 2003 erschienene CD-Einspielung von Richard Strauss\u2018 Don Quixote (Arte Nova) mit dem Tonhalle-Orchester Z\u00fcrich unter der Leitung von David Zinman fand gro\u00dfe internationale Beachtung, vom BBC Music Magazin wurde sie zur besten erh\u00e4ltlichen Aufnahme gek\u00fcrt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
