Viola<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Biography:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

GARTH KNOX wurde in Irland geboren und wuchs in Schottland auf. Er studierte am Royal College of Music in London bei Frederick Riddle und gewann schon bald mehrere Preise f\u00fcr Viola und f\u00fcr Kammermusik. Nach dem Studium spielte er mit fast allen f\u00fchrenden Ensembles in London verschiedene Repertoires vom Barock bis zu Neuer Musik.\u20281983 wurde er auf Einladung von Pierre Boulez Mitglied im Ensemble intercontemporain in Paris. Dort erhielt er die Chance, als Solist aufzutreten (auch bei Konzerten, die von Pierre Boulez dirigiert wurden) und Kammermusik zu spielen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zusammen mit dem Ensemble intercontemporain war er weltweit auf Tournee und spielte auf internationalen Festivals.1990 wurde er Mitglied im\u00a0Arditti Quartett<\/a>\u00a0und trat in allen wichtigen Konzerts\u00e4len der Welt auf. Er arbeitete eng mit bedeutenden Komponisten der Gegenwart zusammen (u.\u2009a. Ligeti, Kurt\u00e1g, Berio, Xenakis, Lachenmann, Cage, Feldman und Stockhausen) und spielte zahlreiche Urauff\u00fchrungen. 1998 verlie\u00df Garth Knox das Quartett, um sich auf seine Solokarriere zu konzentrieren. Er konzertiert in ganz Europa, den USA und Japan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
