Das Ensemble spielt mit gro\u00dfer Anteilnahme und sichtlicher Freude an der Musik, alles ist rhythmisch exakt und die Musiker verm\u00f6gen dank der trennscharfen Instrumentation einen passend heterogenen Klang zu erzeugen, der auch in den polyphonsten Passagen durchh\u00f6rbar bleibt. Der Klang zeichnet sich durch eine Sch\u00e4rfe aus, die stets etwas Bestimmtes und Selbstbewusstes ausstrahlt. Teils fehlt etwas der durchlaufende Bogen durch die Werke, wobei hier meines Erachtens fraglich ist, inwieweit dieser \u00fcberhaupt realisierbar ist bei solch br\u00fcchigen Kontrasten wie in der Musik Silvestre Revueltas\u2018. Wenig einzupassen vermag sich die Stimme von Gabriel Urrutia, die bei den Tres Sonetos zu sehr im \u201eSing-Sang&#8220; befindlich ist (vor allem im ersten Soneto, \u201eVuelvo a ti, soledad, agua vac\u00eda&#8220;), zu dominant im Vordergrund steht und in \u201eNo s\u00e9 por que piensas t\u00fa\u2026&#8220; einen allzu pr\u00e4tenti\u00f6s-opernhaften Ton anstimmt, anstatt sich dem begleitenden Ensemble und auch dem Lied an sich angemessen etwas mehr zur\u00fcckzuhalten. Hingegen kann die instrumentale Leistung des KNM Berlin wesentlich mehr hervorstechen und der leider nach wie vor viel zu unbekannten Musik dieses gro\u00dfartigen Komponisten durchaus gerecht werden.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #10100f; font-family: SourceSansPro-Bold; font-size: x-large;\"><i>Oliver Fraenzke<\/i><\/span><br \/>\n<a class=\"arcoma_editor_link\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>musicalifeiten.nl<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p>26.01.2016<\/p>\n<p>Wat blijft van de op 87-jarige leeftijd in het Shostakovitch jaar 2006 overleden Galina Oestvolskaya. Ze was diens leerling. We hebben op z\u2019n minst opnamen van haar werken gelukkig. En de documentaire die Reinbert de Leeuw en Cherry Duins van haar maakten. Elmer Sch\u00f6nberger noemde haar ooit \u2018de vrouw met de hamer\u2019 vanwege haar ongehoord Spartaanse stijl en de toonclusters plus de mokerslagen die ze op een vierkanten houten kist naast de vleugel uitdeelde.<br \/>\nIn West-Europa heerste een ware cultus rond de componiste; haar modernistische tendensen maakten dat ze vanaf de jaren vijftig tot de val van het Sovjet regime slechts aan de periferie van het Russische muziekleven bestond.<br \/>\nDe meeste stukken die Sabine Liebner speelt dateren uit de beginperiode van de componiste. De 12 Pr\u00e9ludes zijn uit 1953 en verraden duidelijk de invloed van Shostakovitch\u2019 24 Pr\u00e9ludes en fuga\u2019s.<br \/>\nIets van de geest van de karige late Scriabin vinden we terug in de Pianosonates nr. 3 en 4, die ook uit de jaren vijftig stammen. Pas in de vijfde en zesde sonate horen we de vertrouwde agressieve componiste. Deze werken ontstonden in 1986 en 1988. In the years before her death in 2006 at the age of 87, though, she achieved cult status in western \u00adEurope with her raw, pared-down late pieces, which were regularly programmed at new-music festivals. Most of the \u00adpiano works that Sabine Liebner plays date from the beginning of \u00adUstvolskaya&#8217;s career, however, when the influence of Shostakovich was still dominant. The 12 Preludes of 1953, for instance, are clearly indebted to her teacher&#8217;s 24 Preludes and Fugues, \u00adcomposed two years earlier, though it&#8217;s the spare late works of Scriabin that seem to haunt the Third and Fourth \u00adPiano Sonatas, also from the 1950s. Jede Note, die die russische Komponistin geschrieben hat, scheint ebenso innerer musikalischer Notwendigkeit wie \u00e4u\u00dferer kompositorischer Inspiration entsprungen. Die tiefreligi\u00f6se Komponistin sprach bei ihren sch\u00f6pferischen Phasen von einem \u201eGnadenzustand\u201c.<\/p>\n<p>Die klare formale Anlage, die barocke kontrapunktische Formen (z. B. Fugen) mit freier Chromatik verbindet, entspricht in keinster Weise den pathetisch-optimistischen Hohlformeln des geforderten \u201esozialistischen Realismus\u201c. Ustvolskaya war eine komponierende Dissidentin. Ihre Stimme wurde auch im Westen erst sp\u00e4t geh\u00f6rt. Dort aber traf die eigenwillig elementar wirkende Musik auf offene Ohren.<\/p>\n<p>Der d\u00fcstere, wuchtige Ernst ihrer Klaviermusik nimmt den H\u00f6rer in der Neueinspielung von Sabine Liebner sofort gefangen. Wie atonale Bach-Echos nehmen sich noch die 12 Pr\u00e4ludien von 1953 aus, ein Zyklus, der von \u00e4hnlichen Werken ihres Lehrers Schostakovitch angeregt wurde. Aber schon hier bestechen das eigenwillige harmonische Gleichgewicht und die konzise motivische Arbeit. Dabei umkreist Ustvolskaya meist einige wenige T\u00f6ne und baut daraus kleine chromatische Zellen, die sie miteinander verbindet.<\/p>\n<p>Die Musik wirkt oft nackt, auf ihr Substrat reduziert &#8211; lange Passagen sind nur ein- oder zweistimmig. Diese Kl\u00e4nge sagen einem nicht, wie man sich f\u00fchlen soll (anders als die Werke der romantischen \u00c4ra). Dennoch geht eine stark expressive Wirkung von ihnen aus. Auff\u00e4llig ist in den 6 Klaviersonaten der oft abrupte Wechsel der Dynamik von einem Abschnitt zum N\u00e4chsten: Massivit\u00e4t und Zartheit begegnen sich auf engstem Raum. In der 5. Sonaten folgen perkussive Kl\u00e4nge von bedr\u00e4ngender physischer Direktheit und entr\u00fcckte, manchmal fast ausgeblichen wirkende Pianissimopassagen unvermittelt aufeinander. In den St\u00fccken der sp\u00e4ten 1940er Jahre vermag man noch st\u00e4rker die Echos der Tradition zu erkennen. In der letzten Sonate von 1986 gibt es dagegen fast nur noch heftig geschlagene Clusterfelder, die von abgr\u00fcndigen Pausen durchsetzt sind. Elementar und erschreckend zugleich. Ein Ballett f\u00fcr Felsbrocken. Ein Totentanz.<\/p>\n<p>Sabine Liebner widmet sich dieser so konzentrierten Musik mit kraftvoller Ruhe und sensibler Pr\u00e4zision (auch noch bei den massivsten Tonballungen spielt sie die Musik). Ein \u00fcberzeugendes Pl\u00e4doyer f\u00fcr eine querst\u00e4ndige Komponistin des 20.
