Georgina Derbez Roque, born in 1968, studied in Mexico and attended courses in composition with Franco Donatoni, Theo Lovendie, Toshio Hosokowa, Klaus Huber and Chaya Chernowin. Today she teaches at the Centro Nacional de las Artes in Mexico City.
She is also the head of scholarship disbursement at FONCA for the advancement of young Mexican composers. In her own works, for which she has received many awards, she often comes to grips with the Western musical tradition. She describes herself as a composer-archaeologist.
