Duo Slaatto–Reinecke Since 1987 Helge Slaatto and Frank Reinecke have continued to discover and explore new musical territory. The duo has built up a new repertoire for violin and double bass, creating their own personal trademark in terms of virtuosity and sound. Renowned composers of our own times have written works for them, ones which have since been performed at many festivals for New Music. The duo has given concerts in Germany, Denmark, Norway, Italy, Austria, France, Greece, Luxembourg and the USA. “With a range of seven octaves the two instruments inhabit a notably large sonic space and can call upon innumerable dramatic effects, ones which in the hands of Slaatto and Reinecke are unfurled with vigour.” (Berlingske Tidende, Denmark) Helge Slaatto (violin) was born in 1952 in Oslo and studied with Maria Lidka, Sandor Végh and Dorothy Delay. He is Professor of Violin at the Conservatory for Music in Münster and was concert-master with the Odense Symphony Orchestra as well as the Athelas Ensemble Copenhagen. He is a renowned interpreter of contemporary music and still in great demand as a soloist, appearing for example with the Koenig Ensemble London, Koechlin Ensemble, Randers Chamber Orchestra Denmark, at the Bergen Festival and the Cantiere Internazionale d’Arte Montepulciano. He has given master-classes in Germany, Greece, Denmark and Portugal.
