“Like every documentary of a comparable kind, this double CD is an attempt to escape one's own transience, to chisel in stone what has been achieved with competence and conviction. Whether it succeeds or not, it is a kind of musical autobiography for all those interested in art, also a record of a thirty-year life that has been entirely at the service of contemporary music since 1993 within the framework of the Musikkollegium Winterthur. Many new works for solo viola and orchestra have been premiered or can be heard live in Switzerland for the first time.

[...]

Apart from Morton Feldman and Gija Kanscheli, I have found a very personal and confidential relationship with all the composers represented on this CD production, which goes far beyond the music presented here. It was mostly solo and chamber music works that were composed for me or premiered by me, which subsequently led to greater collaboration with me as a soloist and the Musikkollegium Winterthur. CD 1 presents four premieres, CD 2 three Swiss premieres. Except for the work of Hans Ulrich Lehmann, these are exclusively live recordings.”
