SIRA HERNÁNDEZ · HYMNS TO THE HOPE
Hymns to the Hope is an impressive piano album that combines music, literature, poetry, and spirituality into a multi-layered artistic statement. The composer and pianist from Barcelona sees her music as an expression of hope, faith, and love for life—especially against the backdrop of pandemic, war, and social injustice.
The works on this album were written over several years and reflect personal and social experiences: the return to everyday life after lockdown, the illusion of normality, but also the ongoing despair in the face of global conflicts. Inspired by poets such as Leopardi, Ungaretti, and García Lorca, as well as by visual art and spirituality, Hernández develops a distinctive musical language between minimalism, romanticism, and contemplative depth.
Central works such as Hymn, Sa Terra Santa, and Hymns to the Hope are musical odes to humanity, peace, and faith in the future. Other pieces draw on specific literary and historical references: Guernica, a Picasso recalls the horrors of the Spanish Civil War, while Don't Forget About That – A Primo Levi, in memoriaman commemorates the testimonies of the Holocaust. Spirituality and meditation characterize works such as Loneliness in the Cathedral and Maha Shivaratri, while the two Tribute to Chopin pieces are a lyrical homage to the great Romantic composer.
The suite Momentos Musicales – Impresiones is dedicated to poetic moments of everyday life full of light and beauty, inspired by the paintings of Joaquín Sorolla. Overall, this album opens up an intense, emotional listening space that invites reflection and celebrates hope as a central, indispensable force.
