Biography:

Aaron Cassidy, born in the USA in 1976, is a composer and conductor of growing international renown. His works are featured in the programs of leading specialists in contemporary music, e.g. ELISION, Ensemble SurPlus, musikFabrik, Ictus Ensemble, ensemble recherche, 175 East, Kairos Quartet, Quatuor Diotima and JACK Quartet. Soloists such as Garth Knox, Ian Pace, Mieko Kanno and Christopher Redgate play his music at renowned festivals (e.g. Donaueschinger Musiktage, Ultraschall, Warsaw Autumn, Huddersfield, Summer Courses for New Music Darmstadt, Gaudeamus, Bludenz, June In Buffalo and ISCM World Music Days) .

He has received grants and commissions from Südwestrundfunk, allerArt Bludenz, the Yvar Mikhashoff Trust for New Music, the Capital Cultural Fund Berlin, the New York Foundation for the Arts, ASCAP, the American Music Center, the Arts and Humanities Research Council, the British Council and PRSF 20×12/London Cultural Olympiad 2012. Cassidy earned his doctorate in composition with a Presidential Fellowship at Buffalo University (SUNY) under his mentor David Felder.

In 2007 Aaron Cassidy became a member of the Faculty of Composition at the University of Huddersfield and is also the Coordinator of the MA at the University's Center for Research in New Music. He previously taught at Northwestern University and Buffalo State College.
