Biography:

The Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra belong to the large, renowned ensembles in Germany and have acquired an excellent reputation as the concert orchestra of the state capital Düsseldorf and as the orchestra of the German Opera on the Rhine. They are the house orchestra of the Tonhalle and thus the heart, motor and artistic cell of one of the most important concert halls in Germany. Since 1945, the series of general music directors has included well-known conductors such as Heinrich Hollreiser, Eugen Szenkar, Jean Martinon, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, Bernhard Klee, David Shallon, Salvador Mas Conde and John Fiore. Russian-born conductor Andrey Boreyko has been General Music Director of the Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra since the 2009/10 season. With concert tours to Holland, Austria, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Spain, China and Japan, the orchestra carries Düsseldorf's reputation as a cultural city into the world.
