Biography:
Gunhild Ott, born in Essen, studied from 1973 at the Folkwang Hochschule in Essen with Prof. Mathias Rütters. In 1977 she received the advancement award at the Federal University Competition in Cologne, in 1979 she received a scholarship from the German Music Council and the Herbert von Karajan Foundation, and in 1981 she received second prize at the German Music Competition in Bonn.
From 1980 to 86 she was solo flutist with the Essen Philharmonic Orchestra and since 1986 with the SWR Symphony Orchestra in Baden-Baden and Freiburg. Gunhild Ott performs her solo and chamber music activities at home and abroad and has held a professorship at the Folkwang Hochschule in Essen since 1997.
