Biography:

Johannes Marian was born in Vienna, where he studied piano, music education and composition. His international concert activities as a soloist, chamber musician and accompanist are based on appearances with important orchestras and ensembles such as the Vienna Philharmonic, the RSO Vienna, the Munich Radio Orchestra, the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, the Ensemble Wiener Collage and the ensemble »die reihe«.

He is a guest in major concert halls in Europe, Asia and America and at festivals such as the Vienna Festival, Salzburg Festival, steirischer herbst and Wien Modern. He has performed with conductors and soloists such as Pierre Boulez, Gustavo Dudamel, Thomas Hampson and Hans Zender and has worked as a pianist and organizer with composers such as Peter Ablinger, John Cage, Dieter Schnebel, György Kurtág, Helmut Lachenmann, Isabel Mundry, Georg Nussbaumer, Christian Ofenbauer, Rebecca Saunders, René Staar and Christian Wolff together.

Johannes Marian is Professor of Piano at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, where he directs the »Ludwig van Beethoven Institute for Piano and Harpsichord« in music education.
