Biography:

Juan Carlos Marset (Libretto) is a writer and Professor of Art Theory and Art Aesthetics at the Universidad de Sevilla. He has taught at the State University of New York, Stony Brook University and Sarah Lawrence College.

From 1995 he was editor of the magazine for art, music and literature ›Sibila‹. He was responsible for the programming of contemporary music at the Teatro Central de Sevilla.

Marset received his doctorate in philosophy from Columbia University in New York, where he also received his Master of Arts and Master of Philosophy degrees and was Professor of Spanish from 1987-1990. He has worked with various composers for productions and music recordings and as a librettist for contemporary operas.

Juan Carlos Marset is currently Director General of the Instituto Nacional de las Artes Escénicas y de la Música of the Spanish Ministry of Culture.
