Since its founding in 1990 Ensemble Musikfabrik (Landesensemble NRW) is one of the leading ensembles of contemporary music. In keeping with the claim of its own name, Ensemble Musikfabrik is particularly concerned with commissioning and producing new works. The Cologne-based international soloist ensemble presents the results of this work, often carried out in close cooperation with the composers, in numerous concerts at home and abroad, at festivals, in the self-organized concert series “Musikfabrik im WDR” and “Montagkonzerte” (often with Live broadcast) and in audio and video productions. The own label Musikfabrik was founded in 2014. Dealing with experimental possibilities of expression in the music and performance area is a central concern for the musicians. Interdisciplinary projects involving live electronics, dance, theater, live video and visual art expand the traditional form of the conducted ensemble concert. Thanks to its exceptional profile and outstanding artistic quality, Ensemble Musikfabrik is a sought-after partner of important conductors and composers around the world. Ensemble Musikfabrik is supported by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and the city of Cologne. The ensemble is organized as a registered association; all essential artistic and business decisions are made by the members.
