Biography:

Rudolph Kelterborn, born in Basel in 1931, studied music theory (Gustav Güldenstein, Walter Müller von Kulm), composition (including Walther Geiser, Wolfgang Fortner, Boris Blacher) and conducting (Alexander Krannhals, Igor Markevitsch).

His extensive compositional oeuvre includes all musical genres (stage works, orchestral and chamber music, instrumental and vocal compositions for larger ensembles and choral works). His works are continually being performed throughout Europe, in the USA and in Japan.

Rudolf Kelterborn was a.o. Head of the Music Radio DRS department, editor-in-chief of the Schweizerische Musikzeitung, director of the Musik-Akademie Basel, co-founder of the "Basler Musik Forum", lecturer and professor at various German and Swiss music colleges as well as guest lecturer e.g. in the USA, England, Japan, China and in Eastern European countries.

He published numerous music-theoretical and analytical essays and books. He also worked as a guest conductor. He received numerous prizes and awards.
