Biography:

Bernhard Wambach, born in 1948, studied in Bremen and Hamburg and attended courses with Friedrich Gulda from 1973-77. From 1978 to 82 he took part in the International Summer Course for New Music in Darmstadt. He won the International Arnold Schönberg Competition in Rotterdam (1979) and the Kranichstein Music Prize (1982).

Concert tours led to the music metropolises of Europe, to Israel, Japan, Taiwan, Korea, China and India. Bernhard Wambach gives piano courses at the International Summer Courses for New Music in Darmstadt, at the Center Acanthes Avignon, at the Akiyoshidai Music Festival in Japan, Korea, Italy, China and Taiwan. Since 1989 he has been a professor of piano and contemporary music at the Folkwang University in Essen.
