Biography:

Argentine-Spanish composer and conductor Fabian Panisello is known in the international New Music scene for the high quality of his work. He is the founder and artistic director of the PluralEnsemble, which is considered one of the best ensembles for new music in Europe. Panisello is Professor of Composition at the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía in Madrid and has been a visiting professor at the China Conservatory of Music in Beijing since 2018. From 1996 to 2000 he was Professor of Music Analysis and from 1996 to 2013 Academic Director of the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía and the Instituto Internacional de Música de Cámara in Madrid; from 2014 to 2019 he was head of both institutions. As a composer-in-residence and as a professor of composition, he is active in master courses and international festivals.

Fabián Panisello studied composition with Francisco Kröpfl and Julio Viera in Buenos Aires and with Bogusław Schaeffer at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg (diploma with distinction in 1993). In addition, he studied i.a. with Elliott Carter, Franco Donatoni, Brian Ferneyhough, Luis de Pablo and Peter Eötvös. He has received numerous awards, e.g. B. the prize »Mozarts Erben« from the city of Salzburg and the Premio Iberoamericano de Composición »Rodolfo Halffter«. He is a member of the Academia Nacional de Bellas Artes of Argentina. His discography includes recordings with NEOS, col legno, Cypres, Verso and Columna Música.
