Biography:

Krisztian Palagyi, currently living in Cologne, was born in Serbia in 1991 to a Hungarian family. The accordionist completed his bachelor's degree with Prof. Edwin A. Buchholz and his master's degree in Interpretation of New Music with Prof. David Smeyers at the Cologne University of Music and Dance. He won numerous competitions, e.g. first prize at the renowned German Accordion Music Prize 2012. Despite his young age, he has already given concerts in large parts of Europe, in concert halls such as the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, the Herkulessaal in Munich and with orchestras, e.g. the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Ensemble Modern, the Duisburg Philharmonic Orchestra and the Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch and with the dance company Sasha Waltz & Guests. He was a scholarship holder of the Werner Richard – Dr. Carl Dörken Foundation and the Hartmut and Lore Schuler Foundation. Krisztián Palágyi plays an Italian instrument specially made for him, Bugari Armando »Black Line« Omnia.
