Biography:

Jan Vogler, student of Josef Schwab and Heinrich Schiff, began his musical career in 1984 as concert master of the Staatskapelle Dresden – at the age of only 20! In 1997 he gave up this position to concentrate fully on his international solo career.

Her highlights to date include appearances with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Lorin Maazel. His repertoire includes not only the relevant works of cello literature, but also tango compositions and contemporary pieces, e.g. B. the concert dedicated to him dark strings by Joerg Widmann.

Jan Vogler's chamber music activities include concerts at the Moritzburg Festival, of which he is artistic director, and performances with partners such as Hélène Grimaud, Martin Stadtfeld and Louis Lortie. The musician has received numerous prizes, including the ECHO Klassik and the European Culture Prize in the music category (2006).

Jan Vogler has been artistic director of the Dresden Music Festival since October 2008.
