Biography:

Matthias Mueller, born in 1966, grew up in Basel, studied clarinet, composition and piano at the Basel Music Academy. His most important teachers were Hans Rudolf Stalder and Jürg Wyttenbach. He has been a professor at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) since 1996.

Matthias Mueller is one of the most versatile musicians of his generation. He is internationally active as a composer, soloist, chamber musician, improviser, producer, educator, researcher and entrepreneur. As a composer, his oeuvre includes chamber music, orchestral works, musical theater and electronic music. As an interpreter, he cultivates the entire clarinet literature and has played over 100 world premieres in collaboration with composers from all over the world. 

His research project SABER, which he has been pursuing since 2000, grew into a music technology company specializing in sensor technology at the interface between acoustic music and digital technology. In addition to hardware, SABER also produces software for live electronics. (www.saber-mt.com)
