Opening Performance Orchestra

Biography:

The  OPENING PERFORMANCE ORCHESTRA is a seven-piece ensemble with a wide range of styles, from the electronics of the musical avant-garde in the 20th century to contemporary Japanese noise music. Their creations are based on the principle of fraction music, where the initial sound is digitally destroyed, broken and uncompromisingly robbed of all its original properties, according to the motto: "no melodies - no rhythms - no harmonies". The main instruments are computers, but on special occasions the group also uses classical and modern instruments, including the theremin, moog and intonarumori.

The Opening Performance Orchestra has already given over a hundred concerts (e.g. at the Ostrava Days, MaerzMusik, Wroclaw Industrial Festival, Prague Industrial Festival, ZKM Karlsruhe) and has released around 20 recordings, first on their own and then with established labels (Sub Rosa, Drone Records, menstrual recordings, Psych.KG). It has worked with various academic and non-academic musical actors such as Milan Knížák, Hiroshi Hasegawa, Phill Niblock, Blixa Geld, Luciano Chessa, Masami Akita aka Merzbow, Reinhold Friedl, Maurizio Bianchi, Bill Laswell and Iggy Pop.
