Sonar Quartet

string quartet

Biography:

The  Sonar Quartet (Susanne Zapf, violin / Kirsten Harms, violin / Nikolaus Schlierf, viola / Cosima Gerhardt, cello) focuses on the music of the 21st century, works closely with composers, organizes workshops and is present at large and small festivals, e.g . B. UltraSchall Festival, Young China from Hessischer Rundfunk and the Siemens Arts program, Randspiele Zepernick, Ostrava Days, Intersonanzen Potsdam, Pan Music Festival Seoul, Forum Neue Musik Köln, Bludenzer Tage contemporary music. The Sonar Quartet has been supporting young composers since it was founded in 2006. In the self-initiated concert series "Berlin im Quadrat", supported by the Initiative Neue Musik Berlin and the German Music Council, this became the guiding principle of the program. The quartet is also interested in the literature of bygone eras and rarely performed works from the first half of the 20th century, such as B. Gabriel Fauré, Hanns Eisler, Stefan Wolpe or Roger Sessions.
