Biography:

Benny Sluchin studied music at the conservatory in his hometown of Tel Aviv and at the music academy in Jerusalem. At the same time, he studied mathematics and philosophy at Tel Aviv University, where he received his Masters in Science. Sluchin played in the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra for two years. He was then co-soloist in the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra for four years. A scholarship from the German government took him to Cologne, where he studied with Vinlo Globokar and received his diploma with distinction.

He has been a member of the Ensemble intercontemporain since 1976 and plays the most important works of contemporary music with this ensemble. As a soloist he premiered the works of Iannis Xenakis, Vinko Globokar, Gérard Grisey, Pascal Dusapin, Frédéric Martin, Elliott Carter, Luca Francesconi, Marco Stroppa and James Wood. He is also involved in various research projects on the acoustics of brass instruments at IRCAM in Paris.
