Biography:

The Swiss cellist Walter Grimmer was appointed solo cellist in the Bern Symphony Orchestra in 1965. At the same time he received the chair for cello at the Bern Conservatory. Until 2002 he taught at the Musikhochschule Zürich. For 15 years he worked in the Bern String Quartet. In the Arion Trio he played all the works for this instrumentation by Mozart and Schubert. Numerous works for his instrument owe their creation to his suggestion. He published the musical testament of his teacher Maurice Gendron, L'Art du Violoncello, which has been translated into various languages.
